Covid-19 and the 2020 season The Scottish Government has announced that accommodation providers and tourism business can re-open from the 15th July, subject to continued and sustained decreases in the infection rate. Walkabout Scotland provide holidays in remote rural communities and we do not want to creating any strain on local resources, especially the NHS.
We also have to acknowledge that the 14 day quarantine for overseas visitors to the UK may in place for some time yet.
We will not be running any week-long holidays or weekends before 2nd August at the earliest. This is subject to review.
We may possibly run day tours, local to Edinburgh from 15th July but we will be avoiding popular hills and routes. Not all pubs and restaurants will be opening so there will be some outside eating and drinking.
We will be reducing minibus travel on all our trips. Some tours will have train travel instead of minibus sections. Where alternative transport is unavoidable, the minibus will have distanced seating and will be deep cleaned prior to each departure.
The Highland Railways and Hills holiday will have distanced seating on all train legs. Guests are advised to travel wearing a mask. We will have a supply of these available.
Guides will be provided with hand sanitiser and spare masks.
Tour balances won't be taken until the week before departure to allow for cover-19 related changes. Deposits are refundable or transferable.
