Donovan’s Isle Of Skye Loch-Side Boathouse For Sale

If you’re feeling like you need to get away from all the pandemic news, then there’s maybe no better place for it than the Isle of Skye.

An 18th-century loch boathouse on the Isle of Skye, that was once owned by Scots musician Donovan, and was visited by George Harrison and Patti Boyd has been put on the market, for the ultimate getaway.

If you’re feeling like you need to get away from all the pandemic news, then there’s maybe no better place for it than this remote, beautiful boathouse on the shores of Loch Bay on the Isle of Skye, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The boathouse has stunning views of the islands of Islay and Mingay, the distant mountains of North Uist, and is surrounded by unspoilt countryside, providing unrivalled regular sightings of native wildlife such as red deer, otters and occasionally sea eagles, as well as incredible guided walking tours on the Isle of Skye.

The three-bed property, which includes traditional stone walls and two antique four-poster beds, was refurbished by Donovan in the 1970s, giving owners instant bragging rights beyond the incredible location and views.

To the rear of the house, there is a waterfall, where the current owners say that ladies from Waternish House used to picnic in Victorian times.

When you need the company of others, the village of Stein is just a walk along the shore, where you can find Stein Inn – the oldest inn on Skye – which serves dishes made using local ingredients and a wide range of malt whiskies and also the Loch Bay Seafood Restaurant, which is famous for its locally-caught seafood.

You’ll have direct access to the beach and coastal walks, and a sheltered tidal harbour for moving your boat. The boathouse is also close to the world-renowned Three Chimneys restaurants and Dunvegan Castle.

It has been valued at over £435,000 and been put on the market by property firm Galbraith’s.
