Christmas is just around the corner, which means the time has come to look for presents for the hiker in your life.
The last year has cultivated a new generation of hikers who have embraced exploring the nature around them. Whether this entailed walking around fields or Scottish hiking tours, the great outdoors has been a lifeline for so many people.
This is especially true for younger hikers, as almost a quarter of people aged 16-24 have taken up hiking in the UK.
Here are some gift ideas for the hiker who has everything this Christmas.
Smartwatches
Campers, hikers and explorers love interesting tools and technology that helps to make camps and treks that little bit easier. From compasses to GPS systems to fitness monitors, it can sometimes be difficult to just choose one as a gift.
With a rugged smartwatch, you can get everything in one. Whilst most smartwatches do not typically have a strong enough battery life, rugged smartwatches can have over 15 hours of battery life with a GPS on the entire time, and if used in battery saving modes can last even longer.
Thermal Bottle
With the winter weather the way it is, you are unlikely to get very far on your hike without a trusty thermos. There are a lot of lightweight, effectively sealed and easy to store thermal cups, mugs and bottles that can become a lifeline in any trekker’s kit.
Coat
Whilst it is understandable if you don’t want to buy clothes or shoes for someone unless you know or can find out their shoe size without them guessing what you’ve bought for them, an excellent weatherproof coat is a perfect present.
Make sure you choose one with removable layers, typically an insulating fleece later and light weatherproof outer layer, which allows for better temperature control on a long hike.
